Our Quartets

As members of Spinnaker Chorus we are encouraged to develop our vocal and performance skills at every opportunity. An excellent way to do this is by singing in quartet groups which improves confidence in your individual part, whilst perfecting harmonies, pitch, tuning and blending with the other parts in the group.

We are very lucky to have a number of superb quartets within Spinnaker ranging from beginners to more experienced groups.

The One Eyed Jacks

Liz (Lead), Cathy (Bass), Jill (Baritone) and Mary (Tenor) – together we are The One Eyed Jacks and we love to sing, laugh and perform together. We’re a relatively new quartet, and are still building up our repertoire, but singing four part harmony brings us joy and we always have a lot of fun. We hope to entertain small audiences as our repertoire grows but right now we mostly perform to one or more of the many cats we have between us.

We get asked a lot about our name – it’s a long story but let’s just say it involves Liz’s cat, Ben and reflects our sense of humour and our kooky characters!

The One Eyed Jacks are currently unavailable for bookings.

All Spinnakerettes, we formed in 2019 with a slightly different line up with Jane as our leading lady w whose vast experience of barbershop singing and performance shaped us as a quartet. Due to personal ambitions Jane decided to stand down in 2020 and we auditioned the fabulous Mary (also a Spinnakerette) who then joined us as our new Leading lady.
Mary says “I’m Absolutely delighted to be the new Lead for the lovely Pitches. My first experience of barbershop was in 1990 when I joined The Pitchpipers….a great fun introduction to the genre and I have been barbershopping ever since. I also sang with Bognor Regis based Arun Sounds for more than 10 years, then came back closer to home and joined Spinnaker”
I have previous experience of quarteting and competed at IABS, many years ago, with ‘Dazzle’
We’re so excited for the future, to having lots of fun, evolving and developing, learning and performing together in our new line up.
