The purpose of this role is to manage all the publicity requirements of the Chorus. The PRO ensures that the Chorus is presented to best advantage through promotion and publicity materials and to update the website regularly.
Key Responsibilities
Liaises with local media for publicity purposes
Writes articles for local media and barbershop/singing publications
Publicises all Chorus events on social media
Designs and prepares promotional materials including event flyers
Manages the public Spinnaker Facebook page
Contributes actively to the private Spinnaker Facebook page for internal communications
Ensures that photographs are taken of Spinnaker events for publicity purposes
The Bookings Officer identifies and proactively seeks out opportunities for chorus performances and manages the process in consultation with the Music Director and Chorus members.
Key Responsibilities
Identifies opportunities for appropriate singouts and markets the Chorus to potential audiences/venues
Receives performance requests and provides information and advice to the MD on suitability
Supports the MD by coordinating information from the client once performance/s have been agreed
Liaises with the MD on an appropriate fee for each event based on agreed broad guidelines
Assesses the availability of Chorus members for potential sing-outs and advise the MD of numbers and names by voice part.
Liaises with PRO re publicity for each performance/event
Liaises with Treasurer re receipts, fees, donations etc
John is in charge of all creative aspects of the chorus, including deciding the songs we sing and appointing members of the music and performance teams.
The MD has overall responsibility for musical activities of the Chorus. This includes:
Setting the musical direction for the Chorus.
Appointing members to the Music Team.
Overseeing the singing evaluation of existing and new Chorus members.
Planning and directing Chorus rehearsals.
Providing education, support and encouragement to Section leaders, enabling them to develop their sections.
Deciding the content of competitions and performance and preparing the Chorus for all performances.
Introducing new music to the Chorus
Developing methods to improve the performance standards of the Chorus.
Planning and implementing a coaching strategy for the Chorus.
